Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen)
Ring Video Doorbell Review: Best Value Video Doorbell?
1080p, two-way talk, and easy install. We compared to Nest and Eufy.
The Ring Video Doorbell 2nd Gen records in 1080p and supports two-way talk and motion alerts. We installed it and used it with the Ring app for a month.
What we liked
Easy to install—works with existing doorbell wiring or battery. Video quality is good for daytime and okay at night. Two-way talk is clear. Motion zones and alerts are customizable. Integrates with Alexa. Subscription (Ring Protect) is optional but unlocks recording history.
What we didn't
Subscription is almost a must for useful history. Some users report delay on live view. Privacy and data handling have been a topic in the news—worth reading Ring's policy.
Verdict
Best value video doorbell for most people. We earn a commission from qualifying purchases.
