The Roomba i3+ with Clean Base is iRobot's mid-tier offering: solid navigation and the huge convenience of self-emptying. We ran it in a pet household for two months.
What we liked
The base holds about 60 days of dirt before you need to change the bag. The robot navigates reliably and gets under furniture. Pet hair is picked up well, and the app lets you schedule and start jobs remotely. Less hands-on than any non–self-emptying robot we've used.
What we didn't
No smart mapping or no-go zones in the base i3+—you get room names only with the i3+ EVO. It can get stuck on dark rugs or thick cords. Replacement bags and filters add ongoing cost.
Verdict
Best upgrade if you want minimal maintenance. We earn a commission from qualifying purchases.
